At Samuel Gilbert Out of School Hours Care we

use the Australian Dietary Guidelines to help provide your children with nutritious foods to meet growing children’s energy needs.

Our menu endeavours to provide children with a wide variety of food from the five food groups.

Our menu works on a five-week rotation, this is to encourage a variety of different foods. We encourage families to provide feedback and suggestion as well a completing yearly survey regarding our menu and afternoon tea rituals.

Breakfast is served from 7 am till 8 am this is a variety of different hot and cold foods. Every morning your child will be given a selection of cereals including Rice Bubbles, Weetbix and Cornflakes as well as toast, pancakes, crumpets, raisin toast and sometimes even French toast.

Cooking experiences are also part of our morning program which means that there is an opportunity for your child to take freshly made baked goods to school for their morning tea. Please see the

Afternoon tea takes place from 3:20 pm tiIll approximately 3:50 pm. Our afternoon tea is separated into two sections fruit and vegetables and then afternoon tea. Fruit and vegetable will change seasonally to make sure our food production is sustainable. Afternoon tea is a variety of grain-based items that vary from rice cakes, sandwiches, wholemeal mini pizzas, Lebanese bread, wholemeal noodles and oats.

Weekly on our menu, we have a plant-based afternoon tea that encourages children to think about sustainability and motivates children to try different foods.
